Tenure rights, or the right use natural resources and assets of various kinds, are of fundamental importance in a globalised and dynamic world where resources are scarce and under heavy pressure. Whether the rights are regulated through a customary system or by a national legal framework, the purpose is still the same: to safeguard individual's, household's, communities' or organisations' interests and obligations in relation to exploiting land and natural resources.
Ramboll's approach to natural resources tenure is rights-based, recognising vulnerable groups and their empowerment to exercise their tenure rights and responsibilities. This is done through building capacity and raising awareness among public and private stakeholders who are involved in tenure issues, thereby improving land administrative processes and strengthening land owners rights.
We also emphasise transparency, and ease of access to accurate information, through so called LIS (land information systems).
