Ramboll Natura was founded in 1973 and is today one of Sweden's leading consultancy firms in the field of sustainable development and natural resource management.
We continually challenge ourselves to listen, learn and be innovative. As the landscape of development co-operation changes, we aim to contribute with new and appropriate methods and approaches.
Our Approach
Sustainable use of natural resources requires a context where technologies and institutional frameworks support and safeguard the interest of all stakeholders. We believe that poor and marginalised people should be directly involved as equitable stakeholders and managers of natural resources. In all our assignments, our teams of consultants, consciously support the development of equal opportunities of involvement, influence and learning for women and men. Support for development of sustainable systems needs to include elements ranging from adoption of technologies to modes of governance, administration and management.
The challenges of sustainable management lie in grappling with the social, economic and ecological complexities of the issues, and in handling conflicts that arise between different interest groups in management and use of natural resources. In responding to these challenges, Ramboll Natura supports stakeholders to engage in continuous, shared learning processes, in which we contribute as active partners with specialist knowledge.
Our staff are creative and experienced team workers, who aim to find and work with long-term strategies to support people-inclusive sustainable development. We have a strong record of accomplishment in finding a balance between beneficiaries’ interests, environmental capacities and financial realities. In different contexts, we see our roles as organisers, advisors, catalysts for development processes, networkers, educators and facilitators in learning and decision-making, and as mediators between stakeholders’ interests.

Experiences
Ramboll Natura employs, on a full-time basis, around 25 development professionals in partner countries around the world and approximately 20 at our headquarters in Stockholm.
Through our work with local organisations, companies and government bodies, we have established relations with hundreds of professionals and resource users worldwide, and in this sense, we combine local and international competence in a global network. Ramboll Natura has worked in over 70 countries in Africa, Asia, Latin America and Europe, and successfully completed over 200 assignments.
